Goodbye California!

As the month of May ended this year, a new chapter in the lives of Larry and Lucy began. On May 31st they rolled out in their new-used 30 foot camper bus (otherwise known to yankees as an RV) and crossed the Golden Gate bridge in the fog for (maybe?) the last time. Then again, one never knows, as they plan to do a lot of roaming and they could end up anywhere.

Their final ride across the iconic bridge was poignant as they contemplated how many years they have spent on and around this bridge... possibly years indeed (or at least months) considering how long they sat in traffic on this road.

The miracle RV isn't too big but it's big enough (hopefully) to make L&L's journey for the next few months or years a comfortable one.

I say miracle because the money for the RV appeared as if out of nowhere; a forgotten 401K that had been attached to a previous job years ago suddenly presented itself, and when cashed out enabled them to purchase the vehicle debt-free. (Thank you God.)

It is in great shape and the L's are looking forward to some hard-earned vacation time, spending at least the summer and maybe some months beyond that simply traveling, getting away, decompressing, and seeing some of the sights they have always wanted to see ... like Maine!

While the bed isn't too comfortable it has all of the needed amenities including a roll-out porch roof and its own bathroom. What else could you need?

As we bid L&L good travels, here is one final good-bye look at the view of San Francisco from the porch of the Round Building on Gough Street (as the locals all know it). Larry and Lucy surely spent many happy years in this city despite the exorbitant rent prices, enjoying the convenience of Waitr and Uber Eats, and the ability to eat good Chinese food and real sourdough bread. Hopefully they will discover many more good restaurants in their travels and won't miss those last two things as much as the rest of us do.

Onward! Into the sunset or... well... into the fog we go!
