Leaving our cozy campsite in New Mexico we headed Patientlady north into Colorado.

Colorado is beautiful, the roads are great, but it's just shy of California cost-wise, so we decided to spend just one night there. We came to Valley Mobile Park in Buena Vista Colorado. It's a quaint little park with mobile homes around the outside and RV parking inside. It rained that evening and we were treated to a beautiful rainbow through our windshield.

We took off in the morning to complete our trek through Colorado. There are some fun towns on the way, including old western towns with wood facades and wooden sidewalks. Many of these old towns have been renovated and are enjoying a thriving tourist revival.
Leadville, Colorado at an elevation of 10,152 feet above sea level was one of these old west towns and definitely the highest elevation (not counting passes).

As we came further north we started to see unusual rock formations and as we went through a very high pass we came across an old mill town, deserted and lonely on the side of a steep gorge.

Soon, a few miles before the Wyoming boarder, we came to some road work. Serious road work. More than 8 miles of torn up, dirt and gravel, follow-behind-a-lead-car kind of road work.
Finally we came into Wyoming; cowboy country. We made our way to the Red Desert Rose campground at Rawlins WY and spent an extra day there doing laundry. Long views of rolling prairie.
If you look very closely you'll see Patientlady in the center
Lucy made new friends :)
Our next adventure will be going through the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park!
