Happy 4th of July!

July has arrived, and with it the anticipation of the 4th of July! We're parked at the home of our friends in Broussard Louisiana. These kind folks have opened their home to us and several other friends to celebrate.

Mary Chachere is very talented and loves making wreaths.

The whole gang here are amazing cooks, we're so enjoying the company and the great food.

Brandon and Adah brought fireworks, which everyone enjoyed. Adah hasn't had the pleasure of growing up with these pyrotechnic wonders, being from California, but Brandon was reliving his youth. :)

One day last week Adah and I went exploring the local nursery. I kept wondering if you could grow roses in this very hot, very humid climate. There ARE roses here and they're also lovely.

There is an abundance of bougainvillea and camellias here, as well as begonias and cannas, like this yellow one. They come in so many colors. Impatiens love it here. I've seen a few hostas, and there are banana trees everywhere. Sometimes I'm reminded of PNG.

You know how much Larry likes hot dogs... well Brandon turned us onto Dat Dog, downtown Lafayette. Yup, hot dogs of many varieties. They were good too, but I liked the building architectural details. :)

Next time I'll tell you about our trip to a 1880's home in New Iberia. It's quite stunning and even though it's had restoration done, it's 85% original. ;-)
