North Rim

Ticking off another item on Larry's bucket list, we visited the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The atmosphere of the North Rim is quite different from the South Rim. There are more open  meadows on the road up there, and the forest includes more deciduous trees.

The North Rim entrance is at 8,827 feet above sea level. We felt it too! The RV parking was all full and so we parked in a turn-out about 1/4 mile from the lodge. Walking is good for us...

We had a wonderful lunch in the old Lodge gazing out the large window at the canyon views. The lodge was originally built in 1928 (the park was established in 1917 but nothing on the north rim), but being built of timber with some stone, it burned down and was rebuilt in 1932 with more stone.

They still offer donkey tours of the canyon!

After lunch we wandered along the rim for a bit and made our way back on the trails to Patientlady and headed back to our campsite in Kanap, Utah.

Once back I took the laundry over to a nice laundry mat right across from our spot. Before taking off in the morning we stopped and washed off most of the bug spatter from the front of the coach. What a difference! Ready for our next adventure.

I love all these old 30's buildings up there. That would be worth the visit for me. Pretty area!
